Remember when liberals dreamed and talked of achievement? Remember when they were optimistic about the future? Remember when Democrats sent us on a quest for the moon? Remember when they dreamed and achieved like this?
Sounds more like individual liberty and responsibility to me. Modern liberals campaign and govern on "what your country can (and should) do for you." Do you think socialized medicine fits that quotation?

"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases."

JFK was no liberal. He cut taxes, ran to the right of Nixon, and was adamantly anti-communist.
Call him a Democrat but please do not call him a liberal.
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"
