Neda Agha Soltan - Dies For Freedom

From the Huffington Post . . . (link to full story)

"CAIRO — She lies in the Tehran street with her headscarf half-off, blood pooling around her jeans and white sneakers.

"Don't be afraid, Neda dear, don't be afraid," a white-haired man says desperately in Persian. Another man presses on her chest, trying to keep her alive.

Scarlet blood gushes from her nose and mouth and courses across her pale face. Men and women scream in horror as they realize she is dead or dying."

Neda Agha Soltan, age 27, was murdered just days ago, shot in cold blood on the streets of Tehran as she peacefully demonstrated in opposition to the tyranny and injustice of the Islamo-fascist regime which rules, and has ruled Iran since 1979 . . . when they seized power due to Jimmy Carter's ineptness.

And then there is this quotation from an article in the UK Telegraph: (link to full article)

"I told her, 'Neda, don't go'," said a woman called Golshad. "She said, 'Don't worry. It's just one bullet and it's over'."

It was not the only occasion in which she alluded to the prospect of dying.

Miss Agha Soltan's boyfriend, Caspian Makan, a 37-year-old photojournalist who met her abroad, spoke of his girlfriend's determination to protest in the name of "freedom" as he spoke of his grief.

"Neda had said that even if she lost her life and got a bullet in her heart, she would carry on," said Mr Makan. "Unfortunately, that is how she died, a bullet hit her heart and her lung, and maybe 5 or 6 minutes later, she died."

He added: "She gave a big lesson to everyone even though she was very young.

"She only ever said that she wanted one thing, she wanted democracy and freedom for the people of Iran,"

You don't negotiate with tyrants who murder innocent people in the streets. You don't invite them over for hot dogs and fireworks on the 4th of July. You don't try to appease them. You can't just leave them alone, because at the same time they are murdering their own people they are arming themselves with nuclear weapons and have threatened the annihilation of Israel and death to the United States.

You cannot just ignore them because they will not ignore you. You cannot excuse them for there is no excuse for tyranny and murderous, barbaric behavior. You don't try to understand them or blame the West or walk in their shoes. You don't make ridiculously false moral equivalencies. You just have to deal with and defeat them. They leave you no choice.

Tonight we pray for those who stand in the streets of Tehran for liberty. We pray that their civil disobedience will bring about the change they seek. We pray for liberty to rule the day and for the tyrants to be defeated.

There is no peace until there is liberty. There is no liberty until tyranny has been defeated.
